Role of school as a medium of formal education.


One of the four main components of formal education is school. A child spends a large part of his life in school. School is one of the main mediums in many areas such as the development of a child's knowledge, intellectual development, socialization and above all personality development. The role of school in a child's life is multifaceted and its main goal is the all-round development of the student.

1. Knowledge acquisition and intellectual development: -
One of the most important needs of a child is the need to know. In every class in school, a child has to acquire knowledge on various subjects. Since it is a controlled medium, care is taken so that the child can gain diverse knowledge experience in the field of knowledge acquisition. This diverse knowledge acquisition results in the intellectual development of the child.

2. Socialization: -
School is a miniature version of society. A child gets acquainted with the larger society outside his family through school. Through the school curriculum and co-curricular activities, the child becomes aware of his social environment. He becomes familiar with social norms, accepted behavior, morality, etc. In this way, the socialization of the child takes place through the school.


3. Personality development: -
Every child's needs, abilities, talents, tastes and interests - etc. are different. Identifying the potentials that exist in the child and realizing those potentials through appropriate training - is an important responsibility of the school. The school develops the child in various areas such as social, emotional, mental, moral, cultural - etc. and makes the child a suitable personality.

4. Development of democratic consciousness: -
Through the school curriculum and co-curricular activities, democratic consciousness is easily developed in the child. People can be aware of the various features of democratic ideals, the responsibilities and duties of citizens in a democratic state and above all, the rights of citizens in a democratic state.

5. Creativity and Cultural Development:-
In school life, every student can engage in various activities according to his/her interest, ability and needs; such as - literature, art, drawing, dance, sculpture, sports. Students can develop their creativity by engaging in these activities organized by the school.

6. Formation of good habits:-
The school pays close attention to the fact that students can develop appropriate daily habits. Such as - taking care of books, keeping clothes clean, keeping nails and hair neat, washing hands - etc. are learned by the students under the supervision of the school.

7. Environmental awareness:-
Every school makes every student aware of the responsibilities and duties of every student in regard to the environment . What are the current problems of the environment, what is the duty of the students to eliminate those problems - the school makes the students aware of these issues. It is hoped that the environment will be preserved in the future by today's environmentally conscious students.


8. Cultural Development:-
Every society has a specific culture. From school, every student can learn about their local culture and national culture. In this way, culture is transmitted among students through school and is passed on to the next generation.

9. Development of national consciousness:-
The school curriculum includes the history of the nation, natural and economic geography, history of the freedom struggle, national heritage - these subjects - which help in the development of national consciousness in students.

10. Development of internationalism:-
The school curriculum and co-curricular activities include various international organizations, their goals - objectives and programs - etc. As a result, through the study of these subjects, the student's consciousness is raised to the international level and their sense of internationalism develops.

11. Evaluation:-
Evaluation is an important part of school life. On the one hand, through evaluation, the teacher can know the strengths and weaknesses of the students, and on the other hand, the students can also be informed about their own strengths and weaknesses. As a result, evaluation helps the student in self-introspection.

12. Vocational Development:-
One of the main goals of education is to develop the vocational skills of students. Schools expose students to various aspects of the world of professions and careers. Students can prepare themselves to become qualified for a career or profession of their choice.
