Aims and objectives of primary education:-


Childhood is an important stage among the various stages of life development. The educational level designated for childhood is primary education. Primary education is an important stage in a child's life. Primary education is divided into two stages - lower primary and upper primary. Generally, lower primary education is from the first grade to the fourth or fifth grade and upper primary education is from the fifth or sixth grade to the eighth grade. The various aims and objectives of primary education are -

1. Formation of good habits among students:-
A main objective of primary education is - to form good habits among children. These good habits are - regular cleaning of nails and teeth, washing hands, tidying up books, keeping the surrounding environment clean - etc. These good habits deeply affect the child's later life.

2. Development of Sociality:-
Primary school is the first school in a child's life. Since school is a small version of society, by enrolling in school and participating in reading and learning process, the child becomes familiar with the larger social life. He becomes familiar with the manners, customs, socially accepted behavior, etc. of the society. Therefore, one of the objectives of primary education is to develop sociality in the child.


3. Development of Morality:-
Another important goal of primary education is to develop morality in the child. In primary education, the child is introduced to the sense of justice, right and wrong, etc. In this way, morality develops in the child.

4. Cultural Development:-
Culture deeply affects education. Education and culture are interrelated. Therefore, one of the main objectives of primary education is to familiarize the child with his culture. No education can be complete without being aware of one's own culture.

5. Environmental Awareness:-
Primary education makes the child aware of his environment. Through primary education, children become aware of the current environmental dynamics - nature, environmental degradation, the role of children in preventing environmental degradation - etc. One of the main problems in the world today is environmental degradation. Therefore, making children aware of the environment is one of the objectives of primary education.

6. Language development: -
Developing language skills in children is one of the objectives of primary education. Language is one of the means of expression. Therefore, if language skills are not developed, there will be obstacles in the child's later education. In primary education, the mother tongue is mainly given importance.

7. Intellectual development: -
Another main objective of primary education is to develop intellectual skills in children. One of the main objectives of intellectual development is - language development, word fluency, determining cause-effect relationships, mathematical knowledge - etc. Providing knowledge about these subjects to children is one of the objectives of primary education.


8. All-round development of the child: -
The main objective of primary education is the all-round development of the child. Primary education fulfills its purpose by bringing about various types of development in the child - physical, mental, social, moral, cognitive - etc. Almost all developed and developing countries in the world today have considered the overall development of the child as the main goal of primary education.

9. Education for good citizenship: -
Every child is a future citizen. Therefore, developing every child as a good citizen is a main objective of primary education. Primary education makes the child aware of the responsibilities and duties that a child has to fulfill as a good citizen. In this way, the possibility of emerging as a good citizen in the future increases in every primary level child.

10. Human resource development: -
Knowledge enriches people and people turn neutral objects into assets with that knowledge. People will become assets only when productivity is created in them. Therefore, another important objective of primary education is to impart the necessary knowledge in the child and increase productivity in them.

11. Development of creativity: -
Making the child creative and revealing the hidden cultural potentials in the child is an important objective of primary education. The creativity latent in every child deeply influences the personality of the child. Therefore, primary education provides an opportunity for the creative qualities of the child to manifest themselves.

12. Physical Development:-
Proper physical development of the child is an important objective of primary education. On the one hand, primary education engages the child in various physical activities and on the other hand, makes the child aware of various healthy habits.
