Role of the teacher in educational guidance.

Role of the teacher in educational guidance:-

Almost every educationist has opined that the role of the teacher is the most important in conducting educational guidance. The teacher conducts educational guidance effectively to implement the main objectives and goals of education. The teacher has to play some special roles to make educational guidance effective. For example -

1. In collecting information about the student:-
The role of the teacher is the most important in collecting various information about the student. Information about the student is important for analyzing the current problem and determining the solution for future needs. With the help of all this information, the student's skills and weaknesses in various subjects can be identified, and the student's interest can be determined. The teacher makes the work of educational guidance successful by collecting and storing all this information.

2. In determining the interest, ability and skill of the student:-
School-age children fail to determine their own needs, abilities and skills according to their own experience. Here the role of the teacher is very important. The teacher becomes aware of the abilities and needs of a student through discussion, analysis, etc. and finds the appropriate path by balancing their abilities and needs.

3. Providing vocational information: -
In school life, a student is not aware of vocational information. A teacher can create interest in vocational fields by providing suitable vocational information to the student. Based on the student's interests and abilities, the teacher can find a suitable vocational path for the student.

4. Teacher-Parents Coordination: -
Based on the student's interests, needs and abilities, both the teacher and the parents provide educational and vocational guidance to the students. But if the teacher and the parents provide guidance in different ways, it creates confusion among the students. Therefore, the teacher coordinates with the parents in providing actual guidance to the student.

5. Understanding problematic situations and their solutions: -
Almost every student faces various problems in school life. In addition, various behavioral problems and inconsistent behavior can be observed among the students. The teacher understands all these problematic situations and tries to solve all those problems by providing appropriate guidance.

6. Planning for the overall development of the student: -
The main goal of modern education is the all-round development of the student. For the all-round development of the student, the teacher adopts various types of educational plans to properly satisfy the various needs of the student - cognitive, moral, social, cultural, etc.

7. Assistance in curriculum selection: -
The departmentalization of the curriculum begins in school life. But many students fail to select the curriculum according to their interests and abilities. In this case, the teacher helps the student in selecting the appropriate curriculum by considering the interests and abilities of the student and providing guidance.

8. Specifying co-curricular activities: -
Co-curricular activities play an important role in school life. A teacher conducts co-curricular activities in the school in accordance with the needs and abilities of the students. These co-curricular activities selected by the teacher help in the overall development of the student.

In conclusion, the teacher's work in educational guidance is multifaceted. On the one hand, the teacher has to collect information about the needs and abilities of the students, and on the other hand, the teacher has to conduct educational guidance in accordance with the needs and abilities of the students.
