Difference between evaluation and examination.

Difference between evaluation and test.

Difference between evaluation and examination:-

Although examination and evaluation are currently considered to have the same meaning, there is a huge difference between the two. The differences between evaluation and examination are -

1. Difference of objective :-
The objective of evaluation is broad and multifaceted. But the objective of examination is narrow and one-sided. Because, through evaluation, different parts of the person are measured; But through examination, measurement is only focused on specific subjects.

2. Difference in process :-
Evaluation is a holistic process. In the case of evaluation, the principle of holistic is followed. But examination is only a part of evaluation. Therefore, examination is a partial process.

3. Difference in the scope of measurement:-
The scope of evaluation is broad. Through evaluation, the overall development of the person is measured. But the scope of examination is relatively short. Through examination, only partial subject knowledge of the person is measured.

4. Differences in giving importance to the student's initial experience: -
In the case of evaluation, importance is given to the student's initial experience. Since the evaluation process is holistic, the student's overall experiences are also considered seriously. But since the examination is subject-specific, the initial experience of the individual is not given importance.

5. Differences in quantitative and qualitative judgment: -
In the evaluation process, both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the student are judged. But in the examination process, only the quantitative knowledge of the student is judged.

6. Differences in personality measurement: -
In the evaluation process, in addition to the theoretical knowledge of the individual, various parts of the personality are measured. But in the examination, only knowledge of the syllabus is measured. The issue of personality measurement is not that important in examinations.

7. Differences in strategy: -
Evaluation is not a collection of one or a few strategies, the evaluation process is conducted by applying various strategies. On the other hand, the examination is just a strategy that helps in the evaluation process.

8. Difference in difficulty: -
Since various techniques are used in the evaluation process and the overall personality of the individual is judged, evaluation is a complex process. But, since the test is specific and one-sided, the test is a simple process.

9. Difference in the application of tests: -
Evaluation is a complex process and various types of tests are used in it. But in the case of examinations, only single competency tests are used.

10. Difference in information: -
In evaluation, the individual information of the student is not important. Here, emphasis is given to the overall information of the person. But in the case of tests, single information centered on the subject dominates.

11. Difference in continuity: -
Evaluation is a continuous process. In it, the student is measured continuously. But the test is an immediate process and through it only the immediate subject-oriented knowledge of the student is measured.

12. Difference in time: -
Since evaluation is a continuous process and in it, the overall measurement of the student is made - the evaluation process is time-consuming. But, since the test is immediate, it takes very little time.

13. Difference in measurement of knowledge: -
Through the evaluation process, it is possible to measure various knowledge and abilities of the student. But through the test, only one-sided, subject-centered and immediate knowledge can be measured.

14. Difference in measurement in other subjects: -
Through the evaluation, in addition to the personality and skills of the student, everything else - teachers, educational institutions, curricula, teaching methods - etc. can be measured. But through the test, only the value of the student is judged.
