Differences between Spearman's two-factor theory and Thurstone's group - factor theory. 


(i) Number of components :-
Spearman's two-factor theory is a combination of two components.
But Thurstone's psychic ability is a combination of seven primary or basic elements.

(ii) Material subject :-
The two components of Spearman's two factor theory are denoted by G (general ability) and S (specific ability).
But the components of Thurstone's group factor theory are – Memory or M, Numeracy or N, Perceptual ability or P, Spatial awareness or S, Rationality or R, Verbal ability or V, Language ability or W.

(iii) Central idea of Theory :-
Spearman's two-factor theory states that general and specific components are required to perform a task.
But according to Thurstone's multifactor theory, one or more of the seven primary elements are used together.

(iv) Limitation :-
In Spearman's two-factor theory, general elements are used in all tasks while specialized elements are used in specific tasks.
But in Thurstone's multifactor theory, the power or energy needed to perform all actions is limited to seven basic elements.

(v) Other names :-
Spearman's two-factor theory is also known as electric theory.
Thurstone's multifactor theory is known as primary mental theory.

(vi) Material Requirements :-
In Spearman's two-factor theory, the G component is required for all functions.
In Thurstone's theory of multifactor there is no one element that is required for all tasks.

(vii) Nature of Material :-
In the two-factor theory, particular elements can be either innate or acquired.
But in Thurstone's multifactor theory, all seven elements are fundamental and inherent.

The relationship between psychology and education.


In discussing the relation between psychology and education, it is necessary to know the meaning of psychology and education. Psychology is the objective science of human behavior. That is, psychology is the science of studying behavior - which helps to explain human behavior, control policies and predict the future.
On the other hand, by education we mean the mastery of those behaviors, which are necessary for the development of both individuals and society. Hence, it can be said that psychology determines the nature and patterns of mental activity by observing the behavior of individuals. And the applied aspect of that behavior is the content of education.

1. Aims of education and relation with Psychology :-
In the words of Adams, "The teacher teaches John Latin." this sentence gives a good understanding of the relationship between education and psychology. The teacher should know the subject of education as well as the person being taught i.e. the student. Knowledge of psychology is required to know the student. Setting the goals of education is not the only task of pedagogy; Realizing this goal is also one of its objectives. The role of educational psychology is very important in this regard.

2. Curriculum and Psychology :-
The next stage in defining learning objectives is curriculum planning. Curriculum should be determined keeping in view the objectives of education. The goal of modern education is not only intellectual development but also all-round development of the student. So the curriculum will be suitable for the overall development of the student. This versatility of curriculum in education depends on the concept of psychology. 3. Teaching methods, assessment and psychology:-
Teaching methods come after the curriculum. Modern education system tries to activate all the senses of the student. The role of psychology is very important in the modern concept of evaluation of educational level, strategy determination and implementation, determination of its significance etc.

4. Mental health of teachers and students and psychology:-

4. Purity :-

Definition / meaning of Educational Psychology :-


According to psychologist Skinner, educational psychology is the branch of psychology that deals with teaching and learning.

C.H. Judd said “ Educational psychology is the branch of science that deals with the changes that occur in children as they move through the different stages of life development.”

Judd also said, educational psychology is the scientific discussion of the various stages of development of individuals from birth to adulthood.

According to Kolesnik, educational psychology is the practice of the theories and principles of psychology that help explain and improve the learning process.

According to Sandiford, educational psychology is a branch of applied psychology that applies the principles of psychology to the field of education.

According to Barnard, educational psychology is a branch of psychology that deals with the teaching and learning process.

Nature of Educational Psychology:-


1. Applied Science :-
The work of educational psychology is to make the educational system effective and improve by applying the theories, principles, formulas etc. of psychology in the field of education, so educational psychology is an applied science. Not only imparting theoretical knowledge, educational psychology wants to make the educational system more effective and efficient by applying the theoretical knowledge.

2. A unique subject  :-
Earlier educational psychology was considered a branch of psychology. Now it is recognized as a separate subject. In fact, a practice of knowledge can claim itself as a separate subject to at least three conditions. (a) The scope of the subject shall be sufficiently wide. (b) The matter will have its own problems. (c) The subject will have its own method by which it will be possible to improve the subject by experimenting or researching its problems and specifying the solution. Educational psychology can fulfill all these three conditions.

3. Dynamic subject :-
The topics of discussion in educational psychology are not static, but dynamic. On the one hand, as a result of constant experiments and research on educational psychology, new information theories, policies, and formulas are being discovered and applied; On the other hand, the same old theories and principles and ways of thinking are changing as a result of which educational psychology is becoming richer.

4. Beneficial to individuals and society:-
Educational psychology always focuses on the welfare of the individual and society. That is why it is an ideal science. Scope of Educational Psychology:-


1. Innate Mental Ability :-
Individuals are born with certain mental abilities. For example - intellect, perception, memory, imagination, thinking etc. These capabilities are particularly important in education. Without gaining detailed knowledge about them, it is not possible to know how to control and improve them and effectively apply them to the education system. The control of life ( breathing ) is Pranayama. The unbreakable relationship of life and death with man at every moment is through the connection of life or breathing. In Sanskrit the word 'jeevan' is derived from 'jiva’ or ‘prandharan' ; And the word 'death' is formed from 'mrityu'. By pranayama it is possible to remove all the defects of the senses and the mind. The yogi should remove rajaguna by asana, papanivrtti by pranayama and mental disorders by withdrawal. The relationship between prana and mind is very close. When prana ceases, the mind becomes concentrated on its own.

Pranayama thins the veil of evil avidya (ignorance) and klesha-rupa (suffering) tamas on the mind. Conception (concentration) in a purified mind becomes spontaneous, and the development of yoga by concept leads to steady state meditation and samadhi. By Yogasana we remove the distortions of the gross body. Pranayama has a greater effect on the subtle body than yoga. Special effects of pranayama can be observed not only on the subtle body but also on the gross body. Our body is also closely related to the health of the lungs, liver and brain.

In essence, pranayama is a system of breathing exercises that strengthen the lungs, improve blood circulation, and promote health and longevity. According to physiology, the two lungs of the human body are the breathing apparatus, in which the filled air reaches all the organs of the body and provides oxygen and expels the carbon dioxide produced from different organs. If this function continues properly, the lungs become strong and the blood purification function continues.

Often, most people are not used to taking deep breaths, so that only one-fourth of their lungs are active, while the remaining three-fourths are inactive. A bee's hive -like lungs contain about 73 million sponge-like cells. If you take a normal light breath, oxygen circulates in about two million holes in them, the remaining five million and thirty lakhs holes remain inactive due to lack of airflow. As a result, inert and fecal matter accumulates in them, causing the person to develop TB. , Cough, Bronchitis etc. and other terrible diseases.

This type of lung dysfunction affects blood purification. The heart weakens and premature death occurs as a result. In this situation the importance of Pranayama for the longevity of the individual is significant. This is why pranayama is included as an essential feature in Sanatana Dharma or Hinduism, ‘Shubh Karya’ holy works and the daily practice of evening worship. Anxiety, worry, anger, depression, fear and sensuality can be easily resolved by pranayama. Not only this, by increasing the brain power, mental qualities like memory, intelligence, foresight, sharp observation, perception, intellect, etc., can be lived longer and attain the real joy of life through pranayama.

A person practicing pranayama reduces the use of his breath, thus he lives longer. Also in this creation the animal that breathes less , may live longer. Although different rules of pranayama are described in the scriptures and each pranayama has its own specialty; However, one cannot practice all pranayama every day. If one can practice Pranayama fully, the benefits one will get are –

1. Pranayama can cure Vata, pitta and kapha.

What is Pranayama:-
Concept of Pranayama:- 


The fourth limb or fourth chapter of Ashtanga Yoga is Pranayama. Talking about Pranayama, Patanjali says – when the movement of breathing is separated, it is called pranayama. Separation means control. Pranayama is the control of the breath and the rate of breathing. Here it must be remembered that in breathing air is coming in and air is going out; They are of little importance in life; The importance is to master the technique of controlling the Prana Kriya or the movement of Prana in our body.

Prana is the cosmic energy; Nasika is the main door of life. The breath that comes and goes through the nostrils is the reservoir of life and pranayama. “ Pranayama Vidhi ’’ or techniques of pranayama was invented by the ancient sages of India with the aim of allowing the mind to penetrate into the inner world of the body with the help of the breath-like rope and make the devotee feel the divinity there.

Rules and different techniques of Pranayama:-


1. Pranayama should be done in a pure sattvic or holy place. If possible, it is best to practice sitting near water.

2. In cities where the effect of pollution is high, the place should be perfumed with ghee and gulgul before pranayama. And if not, ghee lamp should be lit.

3. Sitting in Siddhasana, Vajrasana, Padmasana is suitable for pranayama. But the seat that will be used for sitting should be a bad conductor of electricity. For example - blanket or Kushasana etc.

4. Breathing should always be done through the nose. It will filter the breath and enter into the body.

5. Eating should be done at least 4 - 5 hours before doing pranayama like yoga. If pranayama can be done in the morning after ablution before doing yoga, it is best. 5 – 10 minutes of practice in the beginning and can be gradually increased up to an hour. Pranayama should always be done in a certain number, neither less nor more.

6. The mind should be calm and happy while doing pranayama. Even through pranayama the mind becomes calm, happy and concentrated.

7. If fatigue is felt while doing pranayama, one should rest by taking 5-6 normal breaths before starting the next pranayama.

8. Pranayama should be done according to one's nature and season. Some pranayama increase body heat, while some pranayama bring about normal coldness.

9. Pregnant women, hungry people, people suffering from fever should not do pranayama. Patients should do pranayama keeping in mind the precautions given with pranayama.

10. A long practice of pranayama should lead to complete celibacy. Food should be controlled. Consumption of milk, ghee and fruits are beneficial.

11. One should not forcefully hold the breath in pranayama. For pranayama, taking the breath into the body is called 'Pooraka', holding the breath inside the body is called 'Kumbhaka' and exhaling the breath is called 'Rechaka' and holding the breath outside is called 'Bahyakumbhaka'.

12. Pranayama means not only Puraka, Kumbhaka and Rekhaka; Rather, it is also a practice that regulates the movement of breath and prana and stills and concentrates the mind.

13. Before pranayama one should chant the word 'Om' several times. It calms the mind.

14. While doing Pranayama, the eyes, mouth, nose etc. should be kept in a simple position without putting any kind of tension on the organs. Neck, spine, loins, chest - should always be kept straight while practicing pranayama.

15. Practice of Pranayama should be done slowly, patiently and carefully ; without any suddenness. 

16. Meditation after bath – Pranayama should be done before worship. Bath can be taken fifteen to twenty minutes after doing pranayama. You should never practice pranayama by yourself by reading books. Pranayama should be done under an experienced acharya or teacher.

Yoga education for healthy living :-


The Sanskrit word for health is ``Swashta'' and has a deep meaning. It is made up of two Sanskrit words, namely 'swa' or self and 'stha' or centered. So health roughly translates to - health is "one's own self-centeredness". In the Indian system, the Self is described as Being - Consciousness etc. This is the real truth of every human being. Any deviation from this state of well-being can be considered a disease.

From the beginning of civilization, various physical exercises for physical strength and good health began. Physical education was a major part of education in the ancient Dravidian and Babylonian civilizations. We find traces of this in every subsequent civilization. In the modern age, science has reduced our physical labor opportunities, so the need for physical exercise has increased. Moreover, those who do physical labor also need special exercises to keep the body's internal organs, such as the heart, liver, kidney, pancreas and other endocrine glands dynamic and balanced. Because if the internal organs of the body cannot be kept healthy and dynamic, the muscle power will be disturbed at some point.

6. All aspects of life organized following the rules of Karma Yoga influence the innate divinity of man.

7. Yoga helps in relieving lifestyle disorders like insomnia, high blood pressure, anxiety, obesity, stress, diabetes etc.

8. Yoga helps relieve depression and reduce dependence on psychiatric drugs.

9. Yoga helps in pain management such as arthritis, back pain and general muscle stiffness.

10. Yoga can improve the functioning of the circulatory or lymphatic systems; As a result, immunity power increases.

11. Many asanas and especially shasthakriya or six special asanas (neti, nauli, basti - etc.) play an effective role in removing toxic elements from the body. They help relieve sinusitis, constipation, acidity, heartburn, migraines and can improve future immunity.

  So although yoga was developed as a spiritual science, it is today used more as a self-healing method to maintain a healthy body and mind.

Concept and definition of Summative Evaluation:-


Whenever the formative evaluation comes to an end, summative evaluation is needed. It can be said that the summative evaluation is a post-formative evaluation process which is organized to measure the proficiency of students at the end of a year or a certain period of time. Teaching and learning ; and the overall outcome of the learning process is obtained from such kinds of evaluation. Class assessment, unit assessment, oral assessment etc. are the parts of formative evaluation. So, the process of making an overall evaluation of the student's proficiency in terms of learning objectives at the end of a specified period or at the end of a course is called summative evaluation.

Summative evaluation is of two types. such as,
(a) Extrinsic and (b) Intrinsic.

Summative evaluation is organized when the students are familiar with the entire curriculum and expectations are prepared on the entire curriculum. So, summative evaluation takes place after the completion of an academic year and leads to promotion to the next class.

Purposes of Summative Evaluation :-


1. Students cannot easily relate to the daily feedback provided by the teacher, and the overall picture of how their learning is progressing is not easily calculated. But summative evaluation can provide students with this kind of overall picture.

2. Summative evaluation assesses students' general learning or proficiency levels. The effectiveness of teaching and instruction can be evaluated based on student proficiency.

What is Formative Evaluation?


Formative evaluation generally refers to consistent evaluation of student proficiency throughout a unit, course, or instructional program. That is, the type of evaluation during content discussion in the classroom is basically formative evaluation. During teaching or instruction, content is divided into small parts and presented in order of concepts so that students can easily understand. At the end of each unit, students are required to take a test, through which their strengths and weaknesses are identified. Remedial teaching is provided for those areas in which the students are weak, after which formative evaluation is again undertaken. The main purpose of this type of evaluation is to judge whether students have developed the concept of content and special emphasis is placed on students' learning difficulties.

With the help of formative evaluation, during teaching or instruction, a teacher can know whether students' concepts have been formed and the progress of students in learning. As a result, teachers are facilitated to give feedback to students. Again formative evaluation gives feedback to the teacher. With the help of this he can select appropriate methods, techniques or teaching aids to the students and present the content in a proper manner. Individual assessment, class tests, in-class quizzes, homework, quarterly tests - etc. are used as formative evaluation techniques or instruments. The purpose of formative evaluation is to improve student learning and make teachers competent in presenting learning experiences.

3. Formative evaluation provides continuous and immediate feedback to students. This in turn motivates them to learn and can identify their learning errors that need correction.

5. Formative evaluation offers many opportunities for students to gain understanding and mastery of content.

6. Formative evaluation is concerned with judging instructional programs and designs. These judgments help and guide over the program and its changes, improvements and implementation.

7. Formative evaluation helps students identify their strengths and weaknesses. Formative evaluation thoroughly identifies areas where students are weak in content and indicates what remedial teaching is needed.
