Discuss the principles of guidance.

Basic principles of guidance:-

Guidance is needed at every age level in personal life. Through guidance, the individual takes steps to understand the nature of the problem and solve it. Different types of guidance are based on some basic principles. The main and basic principles of guidance are -

1. Principle of neutrality: -
The guidance process is conducted to prevent and solve problems. In this case, the person assigned to provide guidance should provide neutral guidance on the individual's problem and its solution instead of his personal thoughts, ideals, etc. - this is desirable.

2. Principle of holisticity: -
In the guidance process, emphasis is placed on the overall entity and problem instead of the partial entity and problem of the individual. Guidance is provided by understanding the individual and his problem as a whole.

3. Principle of satisfaction of individual needs: -
The guidance process is conducted as a whole focusing on the needs of the individual. Through the guidance process, importance is given to solving the problems of the individual or satisfying his different needs.

4. Principle of Difference: -
Differences can be observed in the problems and needs of people at different stages of their life. Childhood, adolescence, youth and old age - there are differences in the problems and needs of the individual at each stage. The differences in the needs of the individual at these different stages are considered seriously in the guidance process.

5. Principle of Freedom: -
If the individual cannot present his problem correctly - then the basic purpose of the guidance will fail. Therefore, a suitable environment is created for the individual to present his problem freely and the principle of freedom is adopted in discussing with the individual.

6. Principle of Removing Incongruity: -
Due to various reasons such as social, economic, political - etc., the individual becomes accustomed to various types of inconsistent behavior. The main principle of guidance is to remove those inconsistent behaviors within the individual.

7. Principle of Individualism: -
The problems and needs of each individual are different. While conducting the guidance process, emphasis is given to the needs, abilities, tendencies, interests, etc. of the individual.

8. Principle of continuity: -
Guidance is a continuous process. Guidance is required at every stage of a person's life. Therefore, guidance is conducted from birth to death.

9. Principle of mutual action and reaction: -
The guidance process is never one-sided. While conducting guidance, the director emphasizes on the desires, unwillingness, interests, abilities, etc. of the individual. Then the guidance process is conducted through mutual discussion and consultation.

10. Principle of universality: -
Guidance is not directed only to the person suffering from the problem; the main principle of guidance is remediation and prevention, so the principle of guidance is adopted for all individuals, which plays a significant role in everyone's life.

11. School and family-centered principle: -
Teachers and parents have a special role in the guidance process. Both play an important role in solving the various problems of the students and in shaping their personality. If the teacher and the parents fail to solve a particular problem - then the problem is brought to the attention of a suitable competent person.

12. Principle of Flexibility: -
While conducting the process of guidance towards an individual or a group of individuals, the principle of flexibility is adopted as needed.

13. Principle of Dignity: -
While conducting guidance, the director accepts the personality of the individual or his problem with sufficient dignity. As a result, the individual also becomes respectful of the instructions.

14. Principle of Cooperation: -
In the guidance process, the director assumes the role of a helper of the person receiving the instructions. By understanding the problem of the individual, he can provide instructions on the appropriate solution for him. In this way, guidance is conducted through mutual cooperation.
